Tim has over 30 years in the fiber industry, most of that time specializing in testing fiber networks. After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Technologies, he began his fiber optics career with Siecor Corporation from 1980 to 1988, transitioning from fiber cable and hardware to splicing and testing in 1986. While at Tektronix from 1988 to 1993, he was a member of the team that developed their most successful OTDR – FiberMaster. He broadened his expertise while at ILX Lightwave and later at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies, expanding into lab and manufacturing testing.His memberships have included SCTE. BICSI, TIA and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) Council. He is a frequent technology contributor to the Fiber Optic Association (FOA).
Carla’s experience in system engineering, project management, and technical training, writing and editing has spanned over 25 years. She began her career as a software engineer for Duke Power Company where she developed and maintained software applications for large mainframe systems. This was followed by both freelance work and corporate technical positions, including working at BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin as a web-based training engineer. More recently she has worked as an assistant director in university research administration and finance, and as a private consultant. She holds a masters degree in Computer Information Technologies from Regis University. and specializes in technical writing and editing.
